Welcome back to our interview with Anthony Minessale. In case you missed them, check out the previous two portions of the interview, dealing with his background and FreeSWITCH. After we finished grilling Anthony about his passion, FreeSWITCH, we changed topics on him and asked a bit about ClueCon, the upcoming Open Source conference in Chicago:

ClueCon 2009

ClueCon 2009

BandwidthU: What was your major takeaway from ClueCon last year?
Anthony: I was highly impressed with how much it has grown since the first one in 2005. We started ClueCon in 2005 the summer before we got serious with FreeSWITCH. In fact, many of the ideas that blossomed into FreeSWITCH were discussed at that first ClueCon.

BandwidthU: Sounds like it’s worth checking out! What do you think will be the hottest topics at ClueCon?
Anthony: There are several great topics this year. One hot topic will be security. We have Philip Zimmermann, the author of PGP and co-author of ZRTP coming to speak about his new ZRTP security protocol and I hear Bandwidth.com will have a few good announcements too!

BandwidthU: Maybe we do, but you’ll just have to wait and see. What can people get out of attending ClueCon? Who should attend the conference?
Anthony: It’s an incredible opportunity to learn telephony inside out. No matter what level of developer, engineer or administrator you are or even if you are only an avid user of telephony or an entrepreneur interested in getting into telephony for profit, ClueCon has something to offer everyone.

Thanks for the interview, Anthony. We hope to speak with you again soon.

In case you’re interested in ClueCon, here’s the official description from http://www.cluecon.com:

“ClueCon is an annual 3-Day Telephony User and Developer Conference bringing together the entire spectrum of Telephony from TDM circuits to VoIP and everything in between. The presentations and discussions will cover several open source telephony applications such as Asterisk/Callweaver, OpenSIPS/Kamailio (formerly OpenSER), Bayonne, YATE and FreeSWITCH. Other great projects that will be discussed include OPAL and Woomera.”

Note: Bandwidth.com is a sponsor of this event, and you can find more information on the official ClueCon website.
