My name is Chris, and I recently joined the team at Bandwidth. My job is to carry on a conversation with you through our blog, Twitter and other outlets, and I look forward to it. In my short time here, I have noticed that there is something different about this place: an eagerness and enthusiasm to improve the customer experience, the company and people, and our products. As the official “new guy“, I’d like to share some of my early experiences:

The view from the office
Ring the Bell
About 30 feet from my desk, mounted in the ceiling, is a large bell. My first day, the bell rang several times and it prompted me to ask why. The answer? When an account rep meets a customer’s needs and provides a voice or data solution, the bell rings. To me, this is symbolic of making sure that successes are noticed and that the focus remains on the reason we exist: serving customers.
Serving-up Breakfast
The other day, Joe Campbell (VP Operations) walked-in with an extensive breakfast menu that ranged from blueberry waffles to omelets and hash browns. The amazing part is that this was a menu for the periodic made-to-order breakfast that the Ops team was cooking to express appreciation for a number of people around the office. People here go out of their way to show their appreciation, commitment, and thanks for work done well.
A Larger Vision
Before I joined the Bandwidth team, there was one blog post in particular that stood out to me by Henry Kaestner (Co-Founder, Executive Chairman) about the company’s core values. I met Henry in my first week and he reiterated that there is a lofty vision here at Bandwidth. It isn’t just tied to a sales target or a product release, but for Bandwidth to improve the world for the better in the things that we do. Obviously, this encompasses more than just the job responsibilities - it is a vision that is value focused, and spans from volunteering time in the community to representing the company positively in our daily actions.
These are by no means the only things I’ve noticed that set Bandwidth apart, but just a few examples of the strong team and culture that is in place. Now - if I could only find the bathroom…
