VoIP features and functionality are a result of well thought out software, not costly hardware. Software upgrades are considerably less inexpensive than hardware upgrades. Hardware can also be very cumbersome and difficult to manage over time. A normal expense with a typical on-site PBX is a maintenance package. This involves an actual technician showing up to your door step to perform quarterly check ups. VoIP eliminates those ongoing expenses.
