Disadvantages of VoIP

From Bandipedia

VoIP is going mainstream, but it's not quite there yet. Obviously the main obstacle with Voice over IP is that when your internet goes down, your voice is down. For some that is just not an option or a gamble that can be taken. Regardless of the features, regardless of how much money may or may not be saved, companies can sleep better knowing that they have a traditional PBX premise based phone system. The thought that the internet may be down but dial tone is still available is the predominate thought of the opponents of VoIP.
