Faxing
From Bandipedia
Faxing will work when using VoIP. Faxing over IP is possible when your VoIP provider uses T.38 Fax over IP Protocol. However, it is a best effort technology. This is due to the extreme sensitivity of the communicating modems to receiving tones in the proper order at the expected time. In any network, there is latency and jitter. The question is, how much latency is there and how significant is the jitter. Due to these variables, that are totally dependent on the end-user's network and the traffic paterns on their carrier's network, faxing over IP may be intermitent. Some faxes, like packets, will be dropped or lost. This means that a fax may come through, it may be plagued with interruptions, it may be missing pages (in full or in part), or it may never be received. VoIP faxing issues are much more pronounced when dealing with fax machines that are more than 3-5 years old. The most common problem being that the fax machine on either end does not receive the proper termination signals, so the fax may go actually go through, but the machines keep attempting to resend the data. It should also be noted that faxes of 10+ pages tend to have problems more than a 1-2 page fax.
In order to guarantee 100% fax transmission keep faxes running over POTs lines.
