Local Exchange Carrier

The carrier that delivers the local access loop is known as a Local Exchange Provider, or LEC. LEC’s operate in a local market and have a network of copper or fiber that extends throughout the local area and provides voice and data connectivity to the local community. There are two types of LEC’s; ILEC and CLEC
