Loop

From Bandipedia

The T1 local access loop is used to make a private and secure connection between a user’s premise and the chosen ISP. When configured to deliver data, the throughput equals 1544 kbps, which equates to 1.54 Mbps. By definition, the component of an Internet T1 that bears the name “T1” is the local access loop. Developed in the 1950s, the T1 local access loop consists of 24 individual channels that can carry voice or data.
