OCx
From Bandipedia
What is OCx?
Optical carrier (“OCâ€) circuits are provisioned via fiber networks and provide carrier-grade throughput speeds when terminated into a carrier network for bandwidth transit. Since OCx service is all optical fiber, it ties into a carrier's SONET infrastructure for completely redundant, self-healing delivery. Providers advancing from copper-based DS-3 networks will typically enjoy the price savings of built-in redundancy as well as the scalability of an optical fiber access loop.
Who Buys OCx Connectivity?
Service providers of broadband-intensive services, such as Web Hosting, consumer and business grade DSL, high speed WiMax wireless, and unmetered Dial-up with subscriber rates in the tens of thousands find OCx as the final scale point for network growth.
Who Offeres OCx Connectivity?
Typical providers of OCx transport service are the major globally-spanning tier-one providers which include, but are not limited to, AT&T.
