Public Switched Telephone Network

The world-wide network of telecommunications infrastructure containing millions of miles of copper and fiber wire lines and switching equipment to route and terminate traditional voice conversations. Newer VoIP services must interface with the PSTN for callers on a VoIP network to talk to callers on a traditional analog system.
