Should You Buy Your Own Router or Use the Router Provided by the ISP?
From Bandipedia
When purchasing a T1, be sure to review the router options provided by your carrier. Often times, ISP’s will bundle a router with a T1. Some times they will offer a bundle as a sales incentive. Some times it is because a particular router is matched better with their network. Such is the case with Covad in their use of Netopia routers to terminate a T1. In either case, if your provider supplies the router at a reasonable cost, it’s often a better choice than procuring it yourself. If the provider supplies the router, often they manage it which equates to less responsibility and more efficiency, which is the reason you are probably reading this anyway. Happy shopping.
