Voice portal
From Bandipedia
Some VoIP systems come with a system that allows companies and employees to access their phone sytem or phone settings from anywhere that an internet connection is available. There are two types of these portals: Administrative and End-User.
From the administrative portal system administrators can drive the entire phone system from a desktop. This allows for the monitoring of call logs, moving, adding, and deleting of employees from the company directory. This also allows for the addition and renewal of individual features for individual users or a group of users.
The end-user portal is available for each individual employee. They can look at all the calls that have come in, look at all the calls that have gone out, they can check their voice mail, and they can set up call treatments. For example if they are on the road and they want all calls to their desk phone to ring to their cell phone, they can do that. They can send all calls to voicemail. They can send up things like find me/follow me. This is a feature that will send a call to several pre-defined numbers (such has home, cell, etc) to track down the receipient. This ends the old game of phone tag.
These are all feature functionality that is driven directly from the desktop.
