From WRAL TechWire

Raleigh, N.C. — In our latest addition, WRAL TechWire is expanding its weekly calendar. Why?

Because more people than ever are looking to us for information and organizers are submitting an ever-increasing amount of events. So be sure to check each Monday for the latest event update.

WTW has details on four recent additions to the Triangle’s always busy technology events calendar: BlackGirls Code chapter launch; a Bandwidth.com hosted hackathon, the next Triangle Startup Weekend event, and an International Summer Social from the Organization of Women in International Trade.

Thanks in part to the folks at Innovate Raleigh and other sources, here’s a listing of all the technology (and some other) networking events, meetups and conferences coming up over the next few months.

But first, the new highlights:

BlackGirls Code, RDU chapter
The American Underground is partnering with BlackGirls Code to launch an RDU chapter on Wednesday, May 27 from 6-8 p.m. at AU@Main in Durham.

BlackGirls Code Executive Director Kimberly Bryant will say a few words and talk about plans for the organization and new chapter—exciting stuff and a huge opportunity for the Triangle to better integrate tech/ diversity, our friends at AU tell WTW.

TADHack coming to Triangle
Bandwidth.com in Raleigh has formed a partnership with TADHack to host a two-day developer hackathon to build “the next great advancement in communications technology.”

TADHack Raleigh will take place on June 13-14, at Bandwidth’s Raleigh headquarters. As part of theTADHack Telecom Application Developer Hackathon, the Raleigh event will be co-located with a series of developer events taking place simultaneously around the world, in cites such as Chicago, London, Dublin, Madrid, New Delhi and Melbourne.

TADHack marks the only global meeting of developers to learn, share, code and create using the tools and technologies available in telecommunications. Teams will compete to showcase their ideas around voice and messaging into consumer applications, business processes and IoT devices. The winning prizes include a total of $35,000 in global cash, along with local awards that include a $1,000 team prize, Apple Watch, Oculus Rift Development Kit and drones.

Triangle Startup Weekend TrailBlazers
Triangle Startup Weekend: TrailBlazers (TSW) is scheduled for June 12-14 at American Underground in Durham.  This event’s theme is TrailBlazers, with a specific focus on diversity – both in ideas/sectors as well as ethnicity. TSW is a weekend of hands-on experience on what it takes to become an entrepreneur.

Over a 3-day weekend, aspiring entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch their ideas, organize into teams, develop business and marketing strategies and present their businesses to an esteemed panel of judges actively engaged in the Triangle’s startup community. In the larger scheme of things, Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.
