From Wireless Week

Verizon Digital Media Services is offering broadcasters a process for both digital ad insertion and program replacement for live, linear digital simulcasts. The software, called Translate, integrates into Verizon’s Video Lifecycle Solution, a video streaming platform. Translate ingests information from a broadcast traffic and playout management system, then “translates” the traffic, routing and playout system data into the video platform.

Nexus, a Dimension Data company, will showcase a new mobile nursing observation station at the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition that virtually monitors patients in hospitals and other care facilities in real-time. Dubbed “MONA,” the new mobile observation station was designed to improve patient safety and increase caregiver efficiency. The new MONA offering uses both video and audio technology to enable hospital staff to monitor multiple patients from a remote location. Delivered as a mobile solution, MONA allows care professionals to initiate two-way communication when a patient needs assistance, while simultaneously dispatching staff to provide physical assistance.

Allied Telesis, a provider of IP/Ethernet switching solutions, announced it is rolling out its wireless and data exchange platforms for the healthcare industry. Extricom Series products make use of a blanket, i.e. Extricom “Channel Blanket,” approach to wireless network implementation, allowing for solutions suited for an environment where mission-critical devices that need connectivity are multiplying.
