Local Access & Transport Area (LATA)

Author: Anagha Ravi

LATA (Local Access and Transport Area) is a 3 digit (5, in Florida) code that labels a particular geographic market in which calls are routed.

How is Bandwidth involved with LATA

You may find LATAs valuable when ordering numbers from the Bandwidth Dashboard. You can place an order utilizing LATA, which narrows your search to boundaries of that geographical area. Typically, LATAs do not cross state lines; however, a state can have more than one LATA. For example, the state of Louisiana has four LATAs: 486, 488, 490, and 492.

What are the benefits of using LATA

When viewing Billing Detail Records (BDRs) and/or Calling Detail Records (CDRs), you can sort your calls by LATA to determine where the call originated.
