What's happening?
In an effort to enhance consumer protection and reduce the risk of phishing, fraud, and other malicious activities conducted via SMS, the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has directed all service providers to block SMS messages sent to Malaysian numbers that contain any of the following prohibited content at the network level:
URL/Hyperlinks
Any SMS containing links to websites or online resources
Requests for Personal Information
SMS content that asks for personal details such as identification numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information
Callback/Contact Numbers
SMS content including any telephone numbers intended for callbacks or general contact purposes
What do I need to know?
If we detect SMS messages sent to Malaysian numbers containing any of the above-mentioned prohibited content on your account, your traffic may be blocked, and your services may be suspended. To avoid any disruption in your Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and Application-to-Peer (A2P) SMS communications to Malaysian numbers, please refrain from including URLs, requests for personal information, or callback telephone numbers.
