What's happening?
Effective February 17, 2026, all new Toll‑Free Verification submissions must include a Business Registration Number (BRN). This includes EINs for US businesses, Canadian Business Numbers (CBNs), and country‑specific business registration numbers for organizations outside of the US and Canada.
What do I need to know?
Back in August 2025, the industry introduced new Toll-Free Verification requirements, and Bandwidth announced the addition of three new BRN fields to our Toll-Free Verification Form and Toll-Free Verification API effective October 1, 2025.
While these fields are currently optional, they will be required for all new Toll-Free Verification submissions containing BRNs starting February 17, 2026. Any Toll-Free Verifications submitted without these fields on or after this date will fail with a denial code 1112 (Business Registration Number Is Missing or Invalid).

What do I need to do?
If you haven’t already begun collecting BRNs from your customers, we highly encourage you to start as soon as possible. In addition, make sure your workflow, integrations, or onboarding processes include the requirement to collect:
Appropriate BRN
Business registration type
Business registration issuing country
Business entity type
If you’ve already started including BRNs in your submissions, no changes are needed.
