What's happening?
Effective June 15, 2026, Bandwidth is introducing the following changes to RCS for Business inbound message callbacks:
message.idwill no longer display the original outbound message ID. Instead, it will return a unique ID for the inbound message.message.suggestionResponse.pairedMessageIdwill contain the original outbound message ID.
These changes affect RBM Suggestion Responses for both actions and replies, and will be automatically applied to your RCS for Business agents on December 15, 2026.
What do I need to know?
These changes are designed to give you better visibility and control over message interactions:
Improved message correlation: You can directly link user responses to the original outbound message using
message.suggestionResponse.pairedMessageId.Enhanced analytics capabilities: You can access richer insights for suggested replies and actions as we work toward building RCS analytics into Bandwidth App Insights.
Better campaign optimization: You can refine messaging strategies and improve customer experience using clearer interaction data.
What do I need to do?
Please test these changes using your RCS for Business test agent and update your systems to support them prior to December 15, 2026. If you’d like to enable the updated callbacks earlier, please email [email protected].
Note: If you don’t already have an RCS for Business test agent in Bandwidth’s test environment, please send a request to [email protected] and we’ll set one up for you.
