Country regulations

Recipient consent is required for sending messaging content. The minimum standards, include but are not limited to:

  • Collect opt-in consent;

  • Maintain detailed records;

  • Provide transparent information about message content and frequency;

  • Help/stop commands, including in Spanish language;

  • Keywords must be prominently displayed in the first message sent to new subscribers;

  • Response to Stop commands must be immediately confirmed;

  • Help responses must include customer service contact information in Spanish language;

  • Consult Do Not Call / Do Not Disturb Registries;

  • Keep messages under 160 characters when possible;

  • Include clear calls-to-action;

  • Personalize messages using recipient's name or relevant details;

  • Maintain consistent branding across campaigns;

  • Limit to 3-4 messages per week per recipient;

  • Respect Mexican holidays and cultural events;

  • Implement frequency capping per user;

  • Monitor engagement rates to optimize timing

Companies are required to actively check the Public Registry of Telecommunications Users (REPEP) managed by the Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) before sending campaigns. Please note that registration on REPEP is valid for two-years.

Content restrictions

The following list includes types of content not supported by Bandwidth:

  • Firearms and weapons;

  • Gambling and betting;

  • Adult content;

  • Predatory loans;

  • Lead generation;

  • Text-to-pay services;

  • Controlled substances;

  • Cannabis products;

  • Alcohol-related content;

  • Political campaign messages

Promotional content allowed from 8 AM to 6 PM local time.
