New error code for expired messages: (4)794

Updated this week

What's happening?

Effective February 9, 2026, Bandwidth is introducing a new error code for cases where the carrier reports that a message has expired:

(4)794

Carrier Reported Client Error

What do I need to know?

Currently, cases where Bandwidth times out while waiting for a delivery receipt (DLR) from the carrier, and those where the carrier explicitly reports that the message has expired on their end, are both represented by the error code (9)902. This makes it difficult to distinguish between a Bandwidth timeout and an actual carrier-reported message expiration.

Our new, dedicated error code (4)794 addresses this by specifically representing only those cases where the carrier indicates that a message has expired. This will ensure accurate reporting and troubleshooting.

What do I need to do?

If applicable, please update your error code mapping accordingly.
