Moving phone numbers in the Bandwidth App

This article explains how to move phone numbers in the Bandwidth App. For instructions on how to move your phone numbers via API, visit our dev docs.

Prerequisites for moving phone numbers

Before any move can take place, please ensure the following prerequisites are met:

  • You have access to the accounts you plan to move numbers across.

  • The accounts belong to the same Global Account Number (GAN). To confirm this:

    1. Log in to the Bandwidth App

    2. In the upper-left corner, select the account from the drop-down menu.

    3. In the side navigation bar, click Account and select Overview.

  • The numbers belong to the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).

    Note: The ability to move international numbers is coming soon!

Moving phone numbers

You can move up to 5000 phone numbers between your accounts and associated sub-accounts and/or locations. To begin, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Bandwidth App.

  2. In the side navigation bar, select Numbers and click My Numbers.

  3. Complete the steps under one of the following sections, based on how you want to choose the numbers to upload:

    • If you prefer to enter, paste, or upload a list of numbers, complete Option 1.

    • If you prefer to select numbers from your inventory, complete Option 2.

Option 1: Enter, paste, or upload a list of numbers

  1. In the lower-right corner of the My Inventory tab, click Actions.

  2. Under Quick bulk actions, select Move all numbers.

  3. In the Phone numbers field, enter, paste, or upload the numbers you want to move.

  4. Select the Destination account, Sub-account and Location where you want to move your numbers.

  5. If applicable, complete the following:

    • If the numbers have an existing E911 configuration, select whether you want to Migrate or Delete it.

    • If the destination account is enabled on the Universal Platform, select:

      • Voice Configuration Package (VCP): This allows the number to have voice service configured when it’s moved.

      • (Coming soon) Requirements Package (RP): This is for international numbers that need end-user information to be activated.

  6. Review the validation check results and click Continue.

  7. Once you’re ready to move your numbers, click Move Numbers.

    Important: Moving numbers to another account may cause service disruption. Ensure you understand the potential disruptions before moving numbers.

  8. Click View Order in the order confirmation message at the top of the page to view your Move Phone Numbers Order details page for this order. If numbers have been moved from another account, it will be listed under Source account.

    Note: You can return to this page anytime by searching for your order.

Option 2: Select numbers from your inventory

  1. In the My Inventory tab, search and select the specific numbers you want to move.

  2. In the lower-right corner, click Actions.

  3. Under To selected number(s), click Move selected numbers.

  4. Select the Destination account, Sub-account and Location where you want to move your numbers.

  5. If applicable, complete the following:

    • If the numbers have an existing E911 configuration, select whether you want to Migrate or Delete it.

    • If the destination account is enabled on the Universal Platform, select:

      • Voice Configuration Package (VCP): This allows the number to have voice service configured when it’s moved.

      • (Coming soon) Requirements Package (RP): This is for international numbers that need end-user information to be activated.

  6. Review the validation check results and click Continue.
