When sending a group text message, Is there a maximum number of participants in a Group?

When sending group messages, there’s a maximum of 10 participants in a Group. There is no limit to the amount of recipients for Incoming Group Messages.

Are group messages charged per user?

You’re charged for each message sent, so if your group message sends to 10 recipients, you’ll be charged for 10 messages.

How do I create a group text message using the Bandwidth API?

Our developer docs provide a good deal of information on sending messages with our API, see “Send SMS or MMS Message” as well as “Incoming Group Message Event”.

Does group messaging utilize SMS technology?

No, the Group Messaging API is able to send to multiple users by sending an MMS. SMS is not accessible via group message.

Can I use group messaging with a toll-free number?

No, group messaging is only available on local MMS at this time.
