Intern Alex Tusa
If there’s one thing that Bandwidth has no shortage of, it’s great, genuine people. From the moment I started as an intern, I was paired with someone who took a personal interest in my success. The first project I was given directly impacted 911 voice services and was a major priority for the team. The support that I received showed me that I wasn’t just some intern, I was now a part of the team and my success meant the team’s success. It wasn’t long before I realized that I was surrounded by some of the brightest and most knowledgeable people in the field and that they were more than willing to mentor me and expand my horizons as a developer. A year and a half on, I look back and realize that I know infinitely more now than I did before. Honestly, I know infinitely more this week than I did last week! No words can accurately describe what it feels like to be a Bandmate, because working at Bandwidth is an experience that is impossible to describe. The closest I can get is, “worth every second”. Being an intern at Bandwidth was by far the best decision I’ve ever made in my professional life, and I’m proud to continue that work as a full-time software engineer.

Being an intern at Bandwidth isn’t your typical internship where you get coffee and run errands. Becoming an intern at Bandwidth means you get to become a vital member of a team owning important, customer-impacting projects. You’ll get to take part in work that actually progresses your team and the business as a whole. My team let me do research on tools to use, and I presented which would be best and most efficient for us. We collaborated on the pros and cons of each tool and eventually came to a decision as a team. This example is the essence of what it is like being an intern at Bandwidth. You get to do real work and that work actually matters. Not only did my internship provide me with essential life and social skills, but it also proved to me that working with awesome people who are doing innovative things isn’t really work at all.

Intern Camille
Interning at Bandwidth at Bandwidth was my first software development job. I was nervous that I would struggle due to my lack of experience, but Bandwidth has been an incredible place to start my career. As an intern, I worked on an independent my own project all summer with the help of my mentor. I created a monitoring tool that my team still uses a year later. Focusing on one project allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge and make meaningful contributions to our team. After my summer internship ended, I continued working for Bandwidth part-time during my senior year. I collaborated on projects with my team, gained a higher understanding of all our services, and wrote code for production. One of the greatest things about Bandwidth is that you are encouraged to take risks and make mistakes. I’m surrounded by creative and smart people who care about my success and make sure I learn as much as possible. The environment fosters and emphasizes growth over perfection. My direct teammates and BANDmates from other teams are always willing to answer my questions and help with my projects. I chose to return to work at Bandwidth full time after graduation because I know the culture here will allow me to grow personally, and professionally as a software developer.
