welcome letter

Welcome to our school community

There is a quiet kind of magic that happens in a school where children are deeply respected.

You see it in the infant who is given time to move, explore, and discover their own capabilities. You hear it in the toddler who proudly says, “I did it myself,” after preparing their own snack. You feel it in the calm focus of a preschool classroom, where children are choosing meaningful work, collaborating with peers, and building confidence with every small success.

Welcome to a place where childhood is honored.

At our school, we serve children from eight weeks to six years old, creating a thoughtfully prepared environment that grows alongside them. Our days are grounded in both the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) philosophy and the Montessori approach, two practices that share a deep respect for the child as capable, curious, and worthy of trust.

From the very beginning, our youngest children are met with responsive, respectful care. Through RIE, we prioritize authentic relationships, unhurried development, and environments that allow even our smallest learners to be active participants in their own growth.

As children grow, our Montessori classrooms invite them into a world of purposeful work and discovery. You might see a child carefully pouring water, tracing letters, building with intention, or working through a challenge with quiet determination. Our teachers serve as guides, observing, supporting, and preparing environments that allow each child to learn at their own pace while developing independence, concentration, and a deep sense of self.

But what truly defines our school is not just what we do—it’s how it feels to be here.

Our classrooms are calm, yet full of life. Our community is collaborative, grounded in respect not only for children, but for families and educators as well. We believe learning is not just academic—it is social, emotional, and deeply human. We intentionally cultivate spaces where children feel safe to take risks, express themselves, and build meaningful connections with others.

We are not simply preparing children for the next stage of school. We are nurturing confident, capable, and compassionate individuals who trust themselves and their place in the world.

We are so glad you’re here and invite you to explore our community, visit our classrooms, and experience the rhythm of our days firsthand.

Our school

Our Ohana Child Development Center provides a high quality, caring, and safe Montessori and RIE-inspired environment where the children of Bandmates can grow into their full potential and develop a love of learning.

We sincerely believe in supporting our teachers with high quality furnishings and materials, resources to make and purchase materials, professional development opportunities, support staff, a diverse environment, and generous benefits, including plenty of PTO, fully paid medical, vision, and dental insurance, and more.

We’re passionate about babies

For our Bandmates (that could be you!), this looks like extended parental leave, fully covering your deductible when you have a child, and—of course—delivering top-notch childcare at Ohana.

For the students in our infant classrooms, this looks like low child to teacher ratios and following RIE methods to create safe places for babies to grow, learn, and reach new milestones while feeling loved and secure. In fact, Ohana is the host of a yearly RIE training program!

Our babies grow into strong, independent children

If you’re working in one of our toddler or preschool classrooms, you’ll still have a low child to teacher ratio, plus you’ll give children the opportunity to work with increasingly sophisticated Montessori activities.

Here at Ohana our staff and students are living and breathing Montessori. You’ll guide students through real-world and purposeful tasks that promote social/emotional development, practical life skills, concentration, fine and gross motor skills, independence, and the introduction of academic concepts that ultimately prepare them for kindergarten.

We observe and adapt: whether bringing in specialists to support students with neurodivergence or making enhancements to our thoughtfully designed and state-of-the-art playground, we consistently prioritize the wellness of both our students and staff.

Enjoy meaningful work and a full life

Our Whole Person Promise is a commitment to cherish and support your mental, spiritual, and physical wellness. It means that Bandmates enjoy meaningful work and a full life.

Whether it’s supporting you in pursuing new teaching certifications and credentials, completely covering medical, dental, and vision for you and your family, our generous PTO policy, or the opportunity to get involved with Bandwidth Cares, our service organization, we’re living out the fact that people like you are the heart of our company.
